The Hostico brand is the target of a phishing campaign. Learn about the protective measures we recommend you take.
We want to inform you about a recent phishing campaign targeting the Hostico website and brand. Impersonations are carried out through fake emails attempting to obtain personal information from users, with the ultimate aim of stealing banking data and performing unauthorized operations on accounts.
How do these attacks unfold?
Attackers randomly choose domain names and send emails to generic addresses (office@, home@, contact@, and others), with the intention of deceiving recipients and obtaining confidential information. These messages contain links to sites that mimic the login page of hostico.ro along with presentations of fake payment pages. The messages contain notifications regarding the expiration of domains with the subject in the form of "Domännamnets giltighetstid löper ut".
What you need to know?
- Fraudulent emails are NOT sent by us. Official communications are sent exclusively to the email addresses associated with client accounts or relevant subaccounts and will only be sent from Hostico's official email addresses: office@hostico.ro, comercial@hostico.ro, tehnic@hostico.ro.
- Any online payment must be made through the client area (Financial section) or using the link provided in the payment notification email, strictly using our payment processor.
What you should do if you accessed the link or disclosed your account or card details:
- Immediately change the Hostico client account password. Make sure to use a strong and unique password that is different from those used previously.
- Notify the issuing bank of the card if you have provided sensitive information, to request the card to be blocked and to prevent further possible frauds.
- Monitor your accounts closely. Periodically check your account statements and card activity to identify any suspicious or unauthorized transactions.
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your Hostico client account to add an extra layer of security.
Security recommendations in case of a phishing attack:
- Check the email source. Ensure that the message comes from an official source and verify the sender's address.
- Do not access links or documents from suspicious emails. If you have any doubts, contact us directly at office@hostico.ro for confirmation.
- Do not respond directly to messages. Sending replies to suspicious addresses may compromise personal information.
- Check the URLs before clicking. Hover over links without clicking to see the actual URL. Make sure it is hostico.ro.
